Sha Shen Mai Men Dong Tang, Decoction of
Treats deficient yin in lungs and stomach characterized by dry cough. Use for cough following cold or flu, dry couth, dry lips, mouth, nose, dry stool or constipation, dry throat, fatigue, sticky hard to expectorate phlegm, thirst. Whole tongue may be glossy red or red at tip, along midline with a dry coating. Pulse may be thin, weak, slightly rapid.
Herbs in prescription: Ophiopogon (mai men dong), Codonopsis (dang shen), Glehnia (bei sha shen), Polygonatum (yu zhu), Asparagus (tian men dong), Dendrobrium (shi hu), Trichosanthes (tian hua fen), Platycodon (jie geng), Pinellia (ban xia), Quinquefolium (xi yang shen), Armeniaca (xing ren), Morus (sang ye), morus (sang bai pi), Jujube (da zhao), Glycerrhiza (gan cao).
