Qu Shi or Hoelen & Alisma Combination, Decoction of

The Chinese term for phlegm-damp is tanyintan refers to thickened fluids, while yin refers to thin fluids. Both the thick and thin fluids of the tanyin syndrome are pathological: they represent an abnormal accumulation of fluids. The confluence of the two terms occurs when describing a large volume of somewhat thick fluid and is distinguished from a simple phlegm disorder, which has a lower volume of accumulated material. 

Alisma & Hoelen Sixteen Formula (as anti stress formula for water excess conditions) removes damp, promoting the flow of water to resolve edema, dispel spleen damp and benefit kidneys. Use for edema of limbs, poor digestion with loose stools, abdominal gurgling, ascites and joint swelling. Also resolves related symptoms of headache and rapid breathing. 

Ingredients: Alisma rhizome, poria fungus, stephania root, astragalus root, morus root bark, citrus peel, ginger rhizome, polyporous fungus, atractylodes rhizome, pinellia rhizome, areca husk, magnolia bark, chaenomeles fruit, cinnamon twig, akebia stem, licorice root.

Contents: One herb packet for one day's consumption.

Recommended Minimum Dosage: Ten consecutive days. 

Directions for Use: Combine herb to water in 1:5 ratio. Cook until reduced to 1.5 cups for drinking twice daily, preferably warm. Dregs to be discarded.
